Now these three remain: faith, hope, and love. But the greatest of these is love. 1 Corinthians 13:13

I had a dream last night that made me change the way I look at American foreign policy. It was a simple dream. Nothing real dramatic. There was just a man. A middle eastern man. I think he might have been from Palestine. He was wearing a red turbine looking thing. He was looking right at me. He seemed confused. I mean he seemed just a little perplexed.

I woke up as people often do right after a dream. His face still in my mind as sleep gave way to the morning. Then it dawned on me. He was wondering why and how I could be so concerned with the economic trouble we are having when his country is suffering in a much worse way.

I realized that he was right. I thought about it a moment. Then an idea came to me. I thought, “how about a foreign policy stimulus package?”. All we need to do is run down to Target and buy something and then ship it over there somewhere. If every single American bought one $10 item that would be something like 2 billion dollars.

Just imagine how much that would stimulate the economy! Not to mention the good will. Then I got to thinking about it some more and I realized it wouldn’t be good enough to just send an item. We should send along a message with love offering hope in a letter or a cd or dvd. Now that would be cool!

Just imagine how much that would do to improve things! I thought what if everyone caught on to this? What a wonderful world this would be?! If only. If only we could just be like Christians. I thought, if only we could be like Christians no one would even have to ask us. We would just already be doing something like that. If only.

Well I know it sounds like a silly idea but I think it could work. So how about this? Why don’t you send me an item along with your letter, cd or dvd and a little money so I can sent it over there? You can send it to Doug Hauptman Ministries, 20 Castlehill Court, Covington, GA 30016. Please send only new items. Left overs don’t count really if you want to really do good.

Thanks in advance for your courage and faith.

Christian love, either towards God or towards man, is an affair of the will.

~ C. S. Lewis

Love and Blessings!

I met with another client today who had the disappointing experience with a “friend” who she hired to do a website for her. Like so many others I have helped over the years, she just wanted someone in Atlanta to do Web Design for her. She had all her ideas lined up and even a sample site she showed him that she wanted to look like.

But sadly, as happens more often than not, her friend got stuck after spending what was obviously way too much time working on the site and stopped working and stopped returning calls, ergo another friendship bites the dust because another Atlanta want-to-be Web Designer found out the hard way that developinig a good website is indeed much tougher than it looks!

As she told me about her friend I could see the tension in her expression. She was clearly not wanting to loose the friendship. Nevertheless, she related to me that she really needed to get the site up and going as she had some deadlines related to some important meetings and other marketing coming up very soon.

So I just calmed her and assured her that her friend just probably got stuck and is probably embarrassed and that I would be happy to help finish the site up. I related to her that this sort of thing happens quite often and that she should not be too hard on her friend. After all I said, Atlanta Web Design is not as easy as it looks! In the end I was able to help her feel better about getting the site done and very releived that she was not the only one this has happened to.

I also felt good because I felt I had helped not only in her Atlanta Web Design needs but was also able to help save a friendship. Looking back on the experience I feel I can honestly say that I am really an Atlanta Web Designer with compassion!

If you would like to do business with a compassionate web designer in the Atlanta Metro area give me a call! You’ll be glad you did.

Best Regards,

Shhh! The cat’s out of the bag, but we don’t want to be too loud. Social marketing is just a really nice way of saying “if I provide you some information, entertainment, or both, and show you my wares, you just miight buy something from me if I am not too obnoxious!”

It’s the truth, isn’t it? We have all been hard sold and telemarketed and junk mailed and spammed and pop upped to death! So much so that we are one big bunch of very savvy consumers. But now what do you do if you want to try and sell something to someone who has everything already?

You use the indirect approach, of course! You might ask me “Doug, what is the indirect appraoch?” To that I might say, “well, it’s something that I say, do or otherwise communicate about something that I have that is really, really cool that just tells you just enough about it to make you want it without ever really trying to sell it to you.” Very simple concept and best of all it works!

Take for example a blog I am doing for a dog trainer, The K9 Trainer, which just offers all kinds of helpful dog training tips, for free of course. You take this very clever indirect sales approach and combine it with very organic search engine optimization skills and whala, you will get lots and lots of traffic and talk to many people who eventually end up wanting to do business with you, ergo, Social Networking as Marketing.

This simple but powerful approach is how I can help you make more money than you ever dreamed possible from the internet. If this sounds too good to be true, think again. I have been doing this stuff since 1992 and I know what works and what doesn’t and this really works! Perhaps you would like me to show you some examples and success stories. If so, please feel free to contact me anytime!

Thanks,

You really want to know what to do? Okay, but pay close attention to what I’m about to say. Here it goes. First, you must do legitimate, effective and lasting linking development that will deliver long term results. But to be honest, to do linking the honest and right way takes more time than the other SEO strategies I employ so I usually save the linking work for last and only do them if and when needed. The thing is, if your site is good, people will want to link to it. That is the whole reason why Google and the others use linking as a measurement in the first place.

Their theory follows, if a site has lots of links, it must be very good and popular, therefore it should get a higher rank than sites with fewer links. But it gets really complicated from there because they also look at the sites that link to you, how good they are, if they are from a link farm, or from some affiliate site, and so on. So in other words if your site had 10 really good links it would do better than your competitor’s site with 100 bad links. You see?

The bottom line here is you can’t get predictable not to mention sustainable results from link farms or linking software or any other off the shelf link in a box type solution. They just don’t work.

The thing is, SEO is like a horse race. All the SEO jockeys are always “jockeying” for position. TOP ranking positions are usually VERY fluid and change every day. The trick is to keep things changing in your favor as much as possible. That just takes lots of work. No magic tricks or get ranked fast schemes I know of ever worked for anything except to trick folks out of their hard earned money!

Don’t take, borrow, steal or otherwise plagiarize copy from other peoples sites. Not only is it wrong to do so, but it also will cause your site not to rank well. The reason why is because, drum roll, here is a big insider secret here, the search engine companies like Yahoo and Google actually capture information that tells them what content has been somewhere since when.

In other words, if you take copy from another site Google can tell that someone else had it first and therefore they will not like you very much. In fact, there are lots of things that you can do that will cause those companies not to like you very much. Funny though, most of my competition seems not to be aware of these things. Hmmm.

The practice of keeping track of when information was originally posted and by whom is just one example of the many hundreds of different ‘measurements’ which I have identified that are currently in use by Google and it’s competitive followers which actually determine how your website will rank.

How did I figure all this this out? Well, I looked up Google’s Patent and then I read it. Then I took some Advil. Then I did some research. Then I made the determinations based on what they disclose in their patent combined with what I saw happening out there.

If you are interested to read the patent document for yourself, click here.

Once you read this over, you can then apply your years of experience matching what the patent says to what you have observed over the years of looking and analysing thousands of phrase reports. Then you can develop and implement your strategy.

However, if you now feel overwhelmed, you should. It is not so easy to get those top ranks really. I personally have over 70,000 hours of practice doing search engine positioning. Perhaps you would like to take advantage of some of my experience?

If so, please feel free to contact me anytime!

Thanks,

It is certainly true that the Internet has come to age. It seems not so long ago that the WWW was just in its’ infancy and just look at it now! I think a great Political website is Barack Obama’s website. I signed into it a while back and gave his campaign a little money and put up my blog. Barack Obama | Doug Hauptman.

It was an exciting experience. The site has you give up your informatgion and your money before it allows you to do anything else. But it was well worth the $25.00. Once logged in, I was able to interact with the site in several exciting ways. First and formost I was able to write my blog, I had something to say!

Then I was able to get in touch with other people who also support Obama, and who are looking for change. The site also effectively empowers people to become involved and volunteer by setting up groups, meetings and other campaign activities.

They really got it right and hence the 1/4 billion dollars or so that they raised so far. Truly amazing! I remember when Amazon.com broke 250 million in sales the first time way back in 2001. Now it seems that if a website is well thought out and really addresses it’s audience it can really make a lot of money.

I have been fairly successful in my carreer in helping a good number of people make a good amount of money on the web but nothing that big so far. But I am sure I can do something like that, just need to find the right client looking for a great website marketer who wants to make it big on the web and has a reasonable budget to get started with.

If that is you feel free to contact me, you’ll be glad you did!

When it comes to web site marketing there are no easy shortcuts to success. Here are just a few things you need to succeed:

The first thing you need is the right kind of website hosting. It is important that your hosting is not one of those “free” services because they are mostly not recognized by the search engines. More info>>

The next thing you need is quality web site development. If your site looks cheesy, it will not get a good ranking either. It needs to look professional and be easy to navigate no matter what browser. More info>>

Then you need the right web site marketing and search engine promotion strategy. It doesn’t do any good to go after all searches for “travel” if what you really do is sell “Cancun vacation packages” for example. More info>>

To landing page or not to landing page, that is the question. The subject is is it a good idea to make pages optimized for specific phrases and include them in a xml, sitemap or other feed?

Having a page optimized for each keyword possiblity will bring you more and more customers and the pages will be indexed by the search companies are individual content as long as you are not duplicating your verbage and you rename your pictures.

This is a win win situation.

In the Marketing Sense you are reaching people who want to reach you, not by black hat SEO but by casting a wider net of key phrases.

In a SEO Sense it gives you more content, more pages. More links More visitors. More everything!

It gives your customers what they are looking for, increases your traffic and gives you an SEO boost.

Absolutely seek those niche keywords. You should be doing landing pages for specific keywords and phrases. Especially those nice long tail search phrases that can bring you in some nicely targeted traffic. You are almost guaranteed great rankings for those phrases!

I have found that posts on blogs provide a good way to do this. You could write posts on blogs about the various items of interest, making them key word rich.

First post the blog on your site and give it some time to get indexed. Then submit it to a few blog sites.

The blog on your site acts as the landing page, provides some useful and specific information, and then clear “calls-to-action” for how your sight can help them best accomplish what you were describing in the blog.

Posting it on other blogs provides some backlinks and other traffic from those that like to visit the particular blog site.

A site cannot have too many pages or content. As long, that is, as the content is not redundant, spammy or plagiaristic. Your seo will really take off once you reach a point where you have a sufficient mass of content so get blogging and soon as possible!

Link building strategies have, for most people for a long time, revolved around reciprocal link exchanges. While most people understand that links are important, they generally don’t understand why this is so. In a nutshell, a link to your site has traditionally been accepted by Search Engines as a vote for your site. A link from a topic or theme-related site to yours is better than a link from a site having a completely different topic. An important site’s link to yours carries more weight - for example from The Open Directory, or Yahoo Directory. This all sounds fairly straight forward so far.

HOWEVER… the rules have changed… significantly! All the thinking webmasters worked diligently to build links - willy-nilly - in order to subvert the search engine rankings and gain an advantage to themselves at the expense of everyone else. For a long time, there have been mutterings about this, and comments from Google staffers about possible penalties from linking to “bad neighbourhoods’” and - heaven forbid it - buying links!

Google et al simply don’t approve of willy-nilly link-building schemes, and have recently tightened the screws a bit more, in two notable ways… Bad Links Some links are bad… for example, if you are a car sales company and you’ve got dozens of completely irrelevant links to international hotel sites… yeah, YOU know the ones! in Prague, Munich, Shanghai etc! That’s a BAD neighborhood over there! That IS going to put a world of hurt on you! And as for the Free-For-All link sites, web rings, and 3 way link schemes… that’s just suicide in cyberspace!

Why? Because it is a blatant and completely indefensible attempt at cheating the system! Reciprocal Links - Almost a Waste of Effort Reciprocal links are still of some value, providing the link titles are explicit, and if the page they link to you from has a higher Page Rank than the page from which you link to them. The concept of a link to you being a vote for you, and being added to your site’s Total Vote Count has a flip side. A link from you to someone else essentially deducts one vote from your total vote count… meaning its value is minimal when compared to a 1-way incoming back-link!

That’s why we don’t want to do reciprocal links at all anymore. 1-Way Outward Links Are Toxic Ok, let us assume you are a service provider, maybe a health clinic, and you deal with hospitals, other doctors, specialists, nurses, laboratories. So, as a benefit to your visitors, you place direct links to their web resources on your links page. Is that clever? Most certainly it is NOT!

Transfusion time, because you’ll be hemorrhaging Page Rank with nothing in return! Do it, but be smart about it, because there is NOTHING to be gained (by you) from linking to any site that does not link back. So make sure your links include the “nofollow” attribute that tells SE’s that the link is NOT a vote by your site for that site!

This is a MUST do! Link Content Is Mission Critical This is mission critical because Google and others have decided that they can’t trust you to be honest about your site! Basically, it seems like there are two web tribes - those who know not so much about how things work, and those who know more than they should.

There should also be a flourishing third tribe, who just build great sites with lots of terrific content that automatically ranks highly - but nobody’s seen anything from those guys for ages! The tribe who know more than they should ruthlessly manipulate every available loophole to dominate search engine rankings, at the expense of those who have yet to read SEO For Dummies.

Therefore, Google decided that it is essential that there is some external correlation between what YOU say your site is about, and what OTHER people say your site is about… This is done by analyzing the words in the Link Title on all links pointing to your site. Bottom line here is - if a keyword phrase does NOT appear on links to your site, you are not going to rank for that phrase!

For many established sites, this is the main reason they might have experienced a noticeable decline in rankings in the last few months. Because many older sites will have a majority of incoming links based on their business name, and NOT on their activities / products / services / location etc. To use the common “widgets” analogy - if you are selling “widgets” and all your incoming link Titles have only your business name e.g. Smiths Manufacturing Co Ltd, it’s now very difficult for you to rank for “widgets”!

Back link analysis reveals this shortcoming rather quickly and, lucky for you, it is possible to remedy this by building 1-way incoming back-links using multiple Title / Description combinations that contain a good spread of relevant keywords. It does require some keyword research, and it is tedious - but if you don’t do it, you are certainly not going forwards! But your competitors might be… Mix It UP!

Also, it is important not to use the same exact inbound link text in all your links. In fact, if you have too many of the same, you will get blasted and lose all those good ranks and all those points will vanish! So MIX IT UP!

Each inbound link should be slightly different. Like Spox Wheels at Sportaid, Spinergy at Sportaid, Deals on Spinergy at Sportaid, and so on. It takes much more effort and time these days to get top ranks but if you are not lazy, use your head and stay in touch with all your link stats you will reap great rewards. Get Professional Help!
